A critically endangered chimpanzee has been born at Chester Zoo in in Cheshire, England.
The baby, a female Western chimpanzee, is the first of its kind to be born at the zoo for nearly a decade and is in good health and inseparable from mum, ZeeZee.
The Western chimpanzee is found in West Africa and they are critically endangered. It is estimated there are only about 18,000 remaining in the wild.
Western chimpanzees have a unique behavior never observed in other species of chimpanzees. They are known to make wooden spears to hunt other primates, use caves as homes, share plant foods with each other, and submerge themselves in water and play in it to stay cool.
